Sophie Renken

Research Executive

Sophie is a mixed-methods researcher who has worked on a range of projects for a variety of clients, including the Office for Students, Birmingham City Council and UKRI. She has helped to conduct both qualitative and quantitative fieldwork, including interviews, surveys and focus groups, as well as feeding into research analysis and reporting. She also takes an active role in project recruitment and administration. Alongside project work, she contributes to refining qualitative processes, as well as managing Shift’s quality assurance process for research participants. 

Sophie recently completed an MSc in Social and Cultural Anthropology at University College London, graduating with distinction. Her master’s thesis utilised digital ethnographic research methods and secondary analysis to explore themes of identity and employability in the context of social media. Prior to this, she completed her undergraduate degree in Archaeology and Anthropology at the University of Southampton.
